Iran's Foreign Ministry called Time's data about the death of 30,000 people during protests a lie

According to information from Time, the sources of the data were two high-ranking officials from the Iranian Ministry of Health. However, the human rights organization HRANA, based in the USA, provides different statistics, stating that the number of deaths is 5,500, and an additional 17,000 cases are being investigated, which have not yet been confirmed.

Protests in Iran began on December 28, triggered by the fall of the national currency and a sharp increase in prices. Participants in the protests demanded a change in the political regime. The authorities of the Islamic Republic reported 3,100 deaths among the protesters. The authorities announced the suppression of the unrest on January 21.
