In Japan, 30 people have died due to winter storms

According to information received since January 20, more than 100 people have been affected by the snowfalls. In the city of Aomori, the Japan Self-Defense Forces have come to assist in clearing snowdrifts that reach nearly two meters in height. Additionally, about 1,000 snowplows are working to clear 2,300 miles of roads in Sapporo.

Last week, due to heavy snowfall, the airport in Hokkaido and several highways were temporarily closed, which also led to delays in train services.

On January 28, The Guardian reported that more than 40 people had become victims of a major winter storm in the United States, affecting over ten states and causing a sharp drop in temperatures.
