In Finland, a severe winter storm named "Hannes" has caused power outages in 160,000 homes. This was reported by the Swedish publication Sweden Herald, citing information from RIA Novosti. According to the data, wind speeds during the storm reached 25 meters per second, leaving a vast number of households without electricity. At 10:30 PM local time, power outages affecting more than 160,000 homes were recorded, particularly in the western part of the country. As weather conditions worsened, the number of power outages continued to rise throughout the evening.
Additionally, the article mentions that the poor weather conditions could have led to a serious aviation disaster.
“According to rescue services, a passenger plane with approximately 150 people on board and a small aircraft with fewer than ten passengers skidded off the runway due to strong winds and collided with a snowbank,” the publication adds.
Fortunately, the incident occurred at low speed, and no one was injured, the report emphasizes.
