Typhoon 'Fung-Wong' approaches the Okinawa Islands

Typhoon 'Fung-Wong', which struck the Philippines over the weekend, has claimed the lives of at least 25 people. It has now changed course and is heading towards the southern Japanese islands of Okinawa, reports RIA Novosti.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the pressure in the center of the typhoon, which is the 26th of the season, currently stands at 994 hPa. Wind speeds reach 23 meters per second, with gusts potentially reaching 35 meters per second.

The cyclone is expected to reach the southern coast of Okinawa on Wednesday and then move along the eastern coast, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds.

Experts strongly recommend that residents stay on land and exercise caution due to deteriorating weather conditions.

The super typhoon 'Fung-Wong' hit the northeastern part of the Philippines on Sunday. According to the latest reports, at least 25 people have died as a result of the disaster, and more than 2.4 million have been evacuated.

Earlier this week, the cyclone also flooded several villages in northeastern Taiwan.
