The Philippines is preparing for the arrival of Super Typhoon 'Fung-Wong,' with wind speeds reaching 230 km/h. In light of the impending threat, the country's authorities are closing educational institutions and government offices, as well as canceling numerous flights.
According to DW, nearly a million residents have already been evacuated as part of the typhoon preparations. According to Rafaelito Alejandro, the deputy head of the emergency management agency, as of November 9, 916,863 people had been relocated to safe zones.
The super typhoon is expected to make landfall on Sunday evening. It is worth noting that just a few days ago, another typhoon – 'Kalmagei' – claimed the lives of at least 224 people.
According to the national meteorological service, the reach of 'Fung-Wong' is vast and may affect nearly the entire territory of the Philippines. As of 11:00 local time, the typhoon was moving towards the islands with winds ranging from 185 to 230 km/h, with the small island of Catanduanes predicted to be at the very center of the storm. The evacuation has affected nearly a million citizens.
