According to the meteorological bureau Pagasa, the typhoon passed through the northern part of Luzon Island, which is the most populated in the archipelago. The wind speed reached 185 km/h, with gusts up to 230 km/h, accompanied by heavy rains. It is forecasted that after "Fung-Wong" passes over the Philippines, it will change direction to the north towards Taiwan and gradually weaken.
According to local authorities, the greatest impact of the storm was felt by the residents of Luzon and one of the islands of the Eastern Visayas archipelago. One person drowned, and another became a victim of collapsing structures. In Aurora province on Luzon, there are power outages. Several airports have closed, including Sangley, located near Manila, and Bicol in the south of the country.
Earlier, it should be noted, typhoon "Kalmagei" claimed the lives of 224 people in the Philippines and five in Vietnam.
