Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York, humorously suggested that residents spend the weekend at home in light of the heavy snowfall that hit the city on Saturday.
“Stay home. It’s a great time to have a baby,” he said in an interview on ABC.
When the host asked if a “baby boom” should be expected in the spring, the mayor continued joking: “We are looking to increase our population.” However, he also expressed appreciation for the sanitation department, fire department, and other emergency services, noting that while up to 11 inches of snow was forecasted, only about four inches actually fell. “By six in the morning, all streets had been cleared at least once,” Adams added.
On Saturday morning, New York was blanketed with about 10 cm of snow.
The snowfall weakened after encountering cold air masses, leading to a reduction in precipitation.
The highest amount of snow was recorded in Queens: 4.6 inches fell in the Howard Beach area, according to the National Weather Service.
