According to the current Labor Code, the first seven days of January in Kyrgyzstan are official holidays. At the same time, this year the government proposed to extend the New Year holidays until January 12. However, January 8 and 9 will have to be worked on Saturday, February 7, and April 25.

Currently, the draft resolution is at the stage of public discussion. Many social media users expressed dissatisfaction, noting that they had planned their affairs in advance, taking into account the existing labor legislation.

Some residents of the country believe that long holidays, such as the New Year and May holidays, are unjustified, as they disrupt the usual work rhythm and disrupt schedules and plans. Others, on the contrary, argue that additional days off are necessary to strengthen family ties, not for work. Some propose the option of working on an individual schedule, without days off and holidays. Nevertheless, many Kyrgyzstanis depend on the work of government institutions. At the same time, part of the population supports the Ministry of Labor's initiative, hoping for the opportunity to spend time with family and rest at the beginning of the new year.
