In the Kyrgyz Republic, the possibility of extending the existing ban on the export of waste paper and paper waste for an additional six months is being discussed. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has presented a draft resolution that includes a temporary ban on the export of recyclable paper and cardboard outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.

This initiative is aimed at preventing a serious shortage of raw materials in the domestic market, which should help stimulate local production and increase the volume of exports of finished products.

It should be noted that the ban was introduced in 2021 and has since been regularly extended, as there is a shortage of raw materials for domestic producers in the country. This situation could lead to the closure of enterprises, which in turn threatens the jobs of thousands of citizens and significant revenue for the budget.

It is important to note that the export of waste paper to third countries has been completely halted, allowing companies engaged in the production and processing of paper products to purchase secondary raw materials in the domestic market.
