Turmush previously reported that a heavy snowfall recently hit the high-altitude villages of the Alaykuu valley. At that time, local residents recorded Nurzaman struggling through snowdrifts up to his waist on his way to school.
The video, showing the boy laboriously moving along a snow-covered road, quickly went viral on social media, causing a wide resonance.
President Sadyr Japarov saw this video and invited Nurzaman to the presidential New Year tree.
Nurzaman is the fourth of six children in his family. His parents, 39-year-old Almaz and 38-year-old Jumagul, manage the household. The boy shows interest in mathematics and Kyrgyz literature, as well as drawing and playing football.
A Turmush correspondent learned some details about Nurzaman's family.
The boy shared that the video was filmed on December 11, when more than one meter of snow fell in his village. Despite the difficult weather conditions, he decided to go to school so as not to miss classes.
“My name is Nurzaman, I am 10 years old, and I study in the 4th grade. I was very happy when I learned that I would receive a gift from the president. I try to study well; I like literature and mathematics, as well as physical education. That day I went to school because I was afraid of missing new topics and not understanding them. I never skip classes,” he shared.
His mother, Jumagul Ismanova, said that in the morning she tried to persuade the children to stay home due to the snowfall, but they refused. “I have six children — two sons and four daughters. When we saw that more than a meter of snow had fallen, I told the children not to go to school, but they didn’t listen. Two daughters left earlier, and the oldest child got sick and stayed home. I saw the video already on social media — it spread quickly. I was worried, but when we learned about my son's invitation to the presidential New Year tree, the whole family felt joy,” she noted.
According to the woman, the information about the invitation came through the village administration, after which she contacted the Presidential Administration. “I was told that my son was invited to the presidential New Year tree. I didn’t even expect this. The teachers congratulated Nurzaman, and he returned home very happy,” she added.
Teacher Kalbai kyzy Meerimgul, who filmed the video, did not plan to publish it. “I posted it in my WhatsApp status to show the parents. People who saw it started asking me to send it. Within a few hours, the video went viral and gained many views. We all, as one school family, were very happy for Nurzaman. When we learned that he would go to the presidential New Year tree, pride filled us. He studies well and is very responsible. I also taught his older sister — she was also an excellent student. This family is large and one of the exemplary ones,” the teacher said.
Nurzaman dreams of becoming an actor or a football player, and his main goal is to study well and enter a university.
