In the morning, a schoolboy from the Kara-Kulja district of the Osh region faced difficulties on his way to school.

In a video recorded by local residents in the Alaykuu valley, the moment is captured when the boy, submerged up to his waist in snow, crosses a rural street to reach his school.

A heavy snowfall occurred in the Alaykuu valley, creating serious problems for local residents.

Snowfalls in this mountainous region are common and quite serious, especially during the winter and transitional periods from November to May. They cause transportation difficulties and disrupt normal life in the villages.

The winters here are very harsh, and heavy snowfalls are not uncommon. The main road leading to the valley (Myza-Ake – Kara-Kulja – Alaykuu) is often blocked due to snowdrifts and avalanches, which can halt traffic for several days.

Dangerous sections of the road are located between 65 to 110 kilometers away, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly warns about storms and imposes traffic restrictions.

During heavy snowfalls, the snow level can reach significant heights: for example, in January 2021, in the village of Oi-Tal, the snow cover reached about 1 meter. Even horses and cattle struggle to move in such conditions.

On November 18, 2016, Turmush reported that in Alaykuu, due to snowfalls, classes in schools and kindergartens were canceled. Many parents did not send their children to school at that time, as the snow height reached almost human height.

Due to heavy snowfalls and damage to power lines, local villages sometimes remain without electricity for several days.

During snowfall periods, road and rescue services operate in enhanced mode, clearing roads and informing drivers about safety measures, including the use of winter tires and anti-skid chains.
