Speaking about the current situation, Tokayev noted that it is very complex and that the key aspect remains the issue of territorial integrity. Kazakhstan supports resolving the conflict exclusively through political and diplomatic means. “We believe that the only path to peace is negotiations between the opposing sides. Our country does not seek to take on the role of a mediator, but is always ready to offer a neutral platform for dialogue if such a need arises,” he added.
Furthermore, the president praised the initiative to create a Council for Peace, noting its timeliness and relevance. “This initiative is aimed at achieving operational and effective results. President Trump emphasized during the signing of the charter that the Council for Peace should complement the efforts of the UN, which, unfortunately, faces institutional challenges. It is important that this initiative supports the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, highlighting the need to establish peace based on international legitimacy and effective leadership,” Tokayev said.
He expressed hope that the Council for Peace would be able to make a significant contribution to strengthening global peace and stability by providing flexible and practical mechanisms for conflict resolution.
