
Olzhas Bektenov, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, announced new initiatives to improve the tourist infrastructure in the mountains of Almaty. The publication Kursiv LifeStyle shares details about the upcoming changes for tourists.
According to Bektenov, the existing facilities are being modernized as part of the Almaty mountain cluster, and new constructions are also being prepared. In particular, this concerns the Almaty Superski ski resort located on Kok-Zhailau.
Currently, there are 17 cable cars operating in the mountains with a total length of 54 kilometers, but after the planned expansion is completed, an additional 46 cable cars will be added, increasing the total by 221 kilometers. Construction work is set to begin in the spring of 2026.
At the same time, the Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the tourism industry, noting that violations of basic safety and sanitary standards continue to occur.
