On New Year's Eve, a tragedy occurred at the Constellation bar in the ski resort of Crans-Montana. The Attorney General of the Valais canton, Beatrice Pilloud, announced at a press conference that the prosecution does not consider the incident a terrorist act. The main version of the investigation is arson, and the possibility of negligent handling of pyrotechnics is also being considered.
It has been reported that an explosion occurred in the bar's basement, which, according to preliminary data, is considered an accident related to pyrotechnic products.
According to the latest information, the tragedy claimed the lives of about 40 people, and more than 100 visitors sustained various injuries. Most of the injured have been hospitalized with serious burns.
