At least ten people killed in shooting at Canadian school

The tragedy unfolded in Tumbler Ridge, located in northeastern British Columbia. According to police data, ten people were killed in the shooting, including the suspected shooter. More than 25 individuals sustained various injuries, Reuters reports.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated that six of the deceased were found in a school building, two in a residential home that, according to preliminary data, is connected to the incident, and one victim died en route to a medical facility.

The suspected shooter was also found dead; preliminary reports suggest that he took his own life. Police assure that there is no evidence of accomplices and that the public is no longer at risk.

During the active operation, media reports emerged that the shooter may have been a woman with chestnut hair, dressed in a dress.

At a press conference, Superintendent Ken Floyd stated that during the area sweep, officers discovered numerous injured and deceased individuals inside the school. He mentioned that the situation is under control, and investigators are continuing to clarify the details of the incident and the type of weapon used.

Provincial authorities expressed condolences to the victims' families. British Columbia's Minister of Public Safety, Nina Krieger, stated that the government is ready to provide any support to law enforcement agencies.
