A military court in Russia sentenced a citizen of Uzbekistan to 20 years for preparing a terrorist attack

It has been established that in January 2023, the accused recorded a video message in which he expressed his willingness to act in the interests of the terrorist organization "Islamic State," which is banned in Russia. According to the case materials, the defendant agreed, at the direction of the leader of ISIS, to choose a settlement in Russia for conducting reconnaissance of a target necessary for a terrorist act, as well as to rent a premises for the covert manufacture and storage of improvised explosive devices.
On September 23, 2023, the man arrived in Russia from Uzbekistan and reported his choice of Stavropol. He took photographs and videos of several sites, after which he transmitted these materials to ISIS.
Later, he was informed about the intended location of the attack — the building of the government of the Stavropol Territory.
In December of the same year, he purchased all the necessary components for the explosive device and hid them in a cache. On December 18, he was detained by security service officers.
The court, considering the seriousness of the crime, imposed the maximum possible sentence.
Earlier, another court in Moscow sentenced a citizen of Uzbekistan to life imprisonment for a terrorist attack against General Kirillov.
