The attacker at the Tambler Ridge school in British Columbia was 18-year-old Jesse Van Rutselaar, who used his mother's name, Jesse Strang. He began identifying as a woman at the age of 12 and preferred the pronouns "she/her." Police confirmed that there had been calls to Van Rutselaar's home for some time due to issues with his mental health.
Recently, the young man opened fire in the school library, leading to a tragedy — eight people were killed, including a teacher and five students. After committing the crime, Rutselaar took his own life. According to CTV News, he also killed his mother and brother before the shooting.
During the shooting alert, the suspect was described as a woman with chestnut hair, dressed in a dress, but at that time her identity had not yet been established.
