“On behalf of the U.S. Embassy, we express our heartfelt wishes to the people of Mongolia for a successful and joyful celebration of Tsagaan Sar!” — reports MiddleAsianNews, citing the words of the ambassador in Ulaanbaatar.

As one of my friends from Mongolia noted, the coming year is the Year of the Red Fire Horse, which occurs only once every 60 years. This symbol embodies change, innovation, new beginnings, and opportunities, which undoubtedly reflects the dynamic and vibrant cooperation between Mongolia and the United States. I wish that the Year of the Fire Horse brings you and your loved ones health, happiness, and success!

The coming year is significant for both countries. The United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its independence under the theme “Freedom 250,” with numerous events honoring this occasion. Mongolia, in turn, will mark the 820th anniversary of the founding of the Mongol Empire, which holds an important place in world history. The U.S. Embassy is pleased to collaborate with our Mongolian friends in celebrating these two significant anniversaries, highlighting the strong and enduring relationship between our nations.

We are pleased to announce that the “Ulaanbaatar Water Resources Agreement” project, funded with $462 million and supported by the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation, is moving towards completion by March 31. This comprehensive project includes the launch of new wells in the city, wastewater treatment, and ensuring the sustainability of the water sector for the capital and its residents.

As part of economic cooperation, United Airlines has become the first American airline to begin flights to Mongolia this year. We continue to work with our Mongolian partners to expand trade and investment opportunities. Last month, Mongolia participated in the Strategic Mineral Resources Ministerial Meeting organized by the U.S. Secretary of State. This year, we will collaborate with partner countries like Mongolia to create reliable and sustainable supply chains for strategic mineral resources.

Our security cooperation remains strong. This year, the international peacekeeping exercise “Khaan Quest” will continue, confirming our long-standing collaboration in support of UN operations.

We are also preparing for the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, which will be celebrated in January 2027.

In all these areas, we will actively work to strengthen the ties between the peoples and governments of the United States and Mongolia in this auspicious and blessed Year of the Fire Horse.

“During my three years as ambassador, I have been deeply impressed by Mongolia and its people.

What stands out most for me is the courage and independence of the Mongolian people. I admire how you have preserved your uniqueness and independence over the centuries. Your commitment to democracy is particularly impressive. You chose the democratic path in 1990 and have not strayed from it despite challenges. This is truly important. The most remarkable thing about Mongolia is its people. Mongolians are warm, hospitable, and straightforward. Americans are also known for their straightforwardness, so I appreciate that in Mongolians. I love how they continue to honor their history and traditions, which live on to this day.”
