Starting in 2026, the Chinese airline Spring Airlines, one of the leading airlines in the country based in Shanghai, plans to launch direct flights on the Shanghai–Ulaanbaatar–Shanghai route.
Spring Airlines (春秋航空) is a budget airline based in Shanghai (China) that operates regular passenger flights both domestically and internationally.
The main airport for this airline is Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, with Shanghai Pudong International Airport also serving as a secondary hub.
In connection with the upcoming launch of flights, the company held a meeting with Dashnyam Ganzorig, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, where plans for preparation and organization of operations, as well as opportunities for cooperation, were discussed. It is expected that the new direct flights between Shanghai and Ulaanbaatar will contribute to an increase in tourist flow from China and other countries to Mongolia.
The airline was founded on May 26, 2004, as a subsidiary of the tourism holding "Shanghai Spring International Travel Service." The first Airbus A320, previously owned by Lotus Air, was received on July 12 of the following year. Operational activities began on July 18, 2005, with the first regular flight between Shanghai and Yantai. The Spring Airlines logo features a stylized image of a triple spiral or triskelion.
Currently, the airline operates flights to 50 destinations in 12 countries, with a fleet of 134 aircraft. Additionally, it provides tour operator services, making it a significant player in the tourism market.
