According to data published on Tuesday by the Mongolian Tourism Organization, the number of tourists visiting the country in 2025 increased by 5% compared to the previous year.
According to the information, from January to December, Mongolia welcomed more than 851,000 foreign tourists with international passports.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth announced the extension of the "Years to Visit Mongolia" program until 2028, aimed at developing year-round tourism in the country.
There are 18 foreign airlines operating flights to Mongolia. Currently, the highest number of flights is from the Republic of Korea, Russia, and China (4 and 3 respectively). The summer months will also see additional flights from Turkey and Thailand, totaling 10,116 flights to 22 destinations.
The economy of Mongolia still heavily relies on the export of mineral resources. The authorities of the country view the development of tourism as a key element for diversifying the economy and enhancing the competitiveness of the tourism sector in the global market.
In 2024, Mongolia welcomed 727,400 foreign tourists, generating $1.6 billion from the tourism sector.
