As of August this year, the Ministry of Justice of South Korea recorded a record number of foreign students in the country — 305,000, which is 50,000 more compared to last year.

In April 2022, the Ministry of Education reported 253,000 foreign students; however, just four months later, the Ministry of Justice noted that the main growth is associated with an increase in the number of students from Vietnam actively studying the Korean language.

Analyzing the composition of foreign students, 34.5% are Chinese, 26.8% are Vietnamese, 5.9% are Mongolian, and 5.8% are Uzbek.

According to the Ministry of Justice, there are 17,870 Mongolian students in South Korea, which coincides with the total number of students at the National University of Mongolia.

It is noteworthy that about 56,000 citizens of Mongolia reside in South Korea, of which more than 17,000 are engaged in illegal labor activities or have visa violations. 15% of them live with their families.
