Flights over Iran resumed at 3:00 AM GMT, according to data from Flightradar24. The first flights to resume after the closure were operated by Mahan Air, Yazd Airways, and AVA Airlines.
The airspace closure occurred against the backdrop of reports that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering retaliatory measures in response to large anti-government protests in Iran that have been ongoing in recent years.
An American official told Reuters that part of the U.S. personnel will be withdrawn from bases in the Middle East. This statement followed a warning from a senior Iranian official that Tehran is prepared to retaliate against American targets if Washington decides to attack.
