Air India has expressed gratitude to the local authorities of Ulaanbaatar, as well as to the Indian Embassy in Mongolia and the General Directorate of Civil Aviation for ensuring the safety of passengers on flight AI174. This flight, which occurred on November 2, 2025, was en route from San Francisco to Delhi and made an emergency landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport.
A representative of Air India stated that "the relief flight with passengers and crew from aircraft AI174, who found themselves in Ulaanbaatar due to a route change for safety reasons, landed in Delhi this morning."
In its official statement, Air India noted: "We thank the local authorities in Ulaanbaatar, the Indian Embassy in Mongolia, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, the Government of India, and everyone who assisted us in ensuring the safety of passengers and crew, as well as their safe transport to Delhi."
"Additionally, we want to express our appreciation to our passengers for their patience and understanding during the route change. The safety of our guests and staff always remains our top priority," added the Air India representative.
Earlier, the Air India flight from San Francisco to Delhi was forced to land in Ulaanbaatar when the crew suspected a technical malfunction. A company representative confirmed that passengers were disembarked and accommodated in a hotel.
As reported on X's website: "Flight AI174 from November 2, 2025, traveling from San Francisco to Delhi, landed at Ulaanbaatar International Airport. Air India, with the support of local authorities, promptly assisted passengers by providing them with food on board and disembarking them."
Accommodation in a hotel was arranged for passengers after they cleared immigration control, while Air India takes measures to ensure their swift transport to Delhi. The airline sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused by this unexpected route change made for safety reasons and is doing everything possible to minimize these inconveniences.
