The Investigative Committee of Russia has completed the investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that occurred in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov confirmed this news in his statement, citing information from Azerbaijani media.

The head of the Foreign Ministry noted that Baku received an official notification from Alexander Bastrykin, the chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, about the termination of the investigation, which raises "very serious questions" for the Azerbaijani side.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan previously presented new data on the investigation of the plane crash that happened on December 25, 2024. The interim report, published on the anniversary of the tragedy, includes the results of several expert examinations. According to preliminary conclusions, the damage to the aircraft may have been caused by striking elements of a warhead, but their affiliation has not been established.

The plane, which was on a flight from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau Airport after unsuccessful landing attempts on Russian territory. As a result of the incident, 38 people died, and 29 injured were hospitalized.

Among the injured were three citizens of Kyrgyzstan, who were transported back to their homeland on December 30, 2024, for continued treatment.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Azerbaijani airline received an insurance compensation of 1.003 billion rubles for the lost aircraft.

In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, pointed to Ukrainian drones as one of the causes of the tragedy.
