The report states that forensic, ballistic, explosive, and fire examinations were conducted on metal objects found at the crash site. Their results confirmed the absence of signs of an explosion.

However, the agency emphasized that the aircraft, according to preliminary data, was damaged by elements typical of military ordnance. However, the origin of these elements is not specified in the report.

Recall that the tragedy occurred on December 25, 2024, when an Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft flying the Baku – Grozny route crashed near Aktau Airport. The aircraft was heading to the airport after unsuccessful landing attempts in Russia. As a result of the crash, 38 people died, and 29 survivors were hospitalized.

Among the injured were three citizens of Kyrgyzstan. On December 30, they were transported back to their homeland for continued treatment.

According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijani airlines paid an insurance compensation of 1.003 billion rubles for the lost aircraft.

As stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart in October, one of the reasons for the crash was Ukrainian drones.
