The investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane, which occurred near Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan, is nearing its conclusion. This information was provided by the country's Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev, as reported by TASS.

According to Bozumbaev, the investigation process is being carried out in two main directions: a criminal inquiry overseen by the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with colleagues from Russia and Azerbaijan, and a technical investigation, for which the Ministry of Transport is responsible.

“The Ministry of Transport is at the final stage of the investigation. At the moment, we are awaiting final conclusions from the licensors or technology owners regarding the aeronautical equipment and other aspects,” he emphasized at a meeting of the Mazhilis.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the ministry intends to complete its part of the investigation by the end of 2025 or early 2026. The General Prosecutor's Office is also showing progress in its work. “You may have seen statements from the leaders of neighboring countries, so we hope that the investigation will be completed next year as well,” Bozumbaev added.

Earlier, he reported that the final report is expected to be submitted by the end of this year in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
