The Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft that crashed was purchased by Turkey from Saudi Arabia in 2012 and underwent modernization in 2022. The last technical maintenance, according to the Ministry of Defense, was conducted from September 11 to October 12.
The crash occurred on November 11 in the Georgian municipality of Signagi, located near the border with Azerbaijan, resulting in the deaths of 20 people.
