
According to information, a C130 military aircraft that took off from Azerbaijan crashed on the border of Georgia and Azerbaijan. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. This was reported by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense through its page on the NSosyal platform.
President Erdogan, commenting on the tragedy, said:
“We learned with great sorrow about the crash of the C130 military aircraft that was flying from Azerbaijan to Turkey. We are currently working with the authorities of Georgia and Azerbaijan to locate the wreckage of the aircraft. We hope that the losses will be minimal. May the Almighty have mercy on the deceased.”
There were 20 people on board the crashed aircraft, including crew members. The Turkish Ministry of National Defense confirmed this information and reported the start of search and rescue operations.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed condolences to Erdogan regarding the tragedy, noting that he received the news of the crash with deep regret.
Aliyev emphasized that the Azerbaijani people share Turkey's sorrow during this difficult time.
“On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I express my sincere condolences to you, the families and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to the entire people of Turkey,” he added.
Condolences were also expressed by Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, who sent a message to his colleague Yashar Guler.
