Kyrgyzstan will import meat from Mongolia

In the first reading, the draft law on the ratification of a temporary trade agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) received approval from the parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

During the discussion, deputies were interested in whether important products such as meat and legumes would be included in the list of goods with preferential tariffs. Choro Seiitov, the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, confirmed that meat products will indeed be covered by this agreement.

Seiitov also noted that meat from Mongolia is currently cheaper, which, in his opinion, could help reduce prices for consumers and stabilize the market in Kyrgyzstan.

The approved list also includes vegetables, fruits, legumes, and various types of machinery and equipment.

The draft law, which received support at the first stage, will undergo further parliamentary procedures before final approval. If the agreement is fully ratified, it will provide Kyrgyz consumers access to more affordable imported goods and promote economic integration in the region.

Last year, Kyrgyzstan also considered the possibility of importing meat from Mongolia. This was reported by Jennali Orozbekov, the chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service under the Ministry of Economy and Trade.

In August 2025, Kyrgyz companies also expressed interest in importing livestock from Mongolia and developing long-term relationships in this area. At that time, issues of stable and mutually beneficial trade turnover, as well as directions for further cooperation, were discussed.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia announced that in 2025, the total volume of meat and meat product exports will reach 85,400 tons, amounting to $343.9 million.
