The approval of the agreement was an important step towards deepening economic relations between the two countries. During the parliamentary session, Zhanell Kushakova, the acting Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, emphasized that this document abolishes import customs duties on 367 items of goods that are traded between the EAEU member states and Mongolia.
The agreement will be in effect for three years, with the possibility of automatic extension for another three years.
Kushakova also noted that the agreement covers not only tariff liberalization issues but also includes technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, customs cooperation, as well as measures to protect domestic markets. These aspects are aimed at simplifying trade processes and eliminating non-tariff barriers.
According to her, "the agreement creates favorable conditions for the import of goods into the Mongolian market," adding that its ratification will not lead to negative socio-economic or legal consequences and will not require additional costs from the country's budget.
