The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan opened a joint border trade zone

Within the new zone, administrative buildings have been organized, including customs, veterinary, and phytosanitary services, as well as trade pavilions, warehouses, parking lots, a medical point, and a hotel. Conditions have been established for providing government services based on the "one-stop-shop" principle, which will allow entrepreneurs and clients to use interactive banking systems.

The launch of this project will contribute to strengthening trade and economic ties between the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan and the Dashoguz velayat of Turkmenistan, where more than 3.5 million people live.

During the negotiations, further steps for developing cooperation were discussed, including plans to create a similar trade zone in the "Alat - Farab" area.

The parties noted positive trends in their economic relations: trade turnover has doubled in recent years, exceeding 1 billion dollars, and there is potential to increase it to 2 billion through the expansion of the range of goods and effective use of free trade.

Attention was also drawn to the need for active business involvement in the implementation of new projects for the production of construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and food products that are in demand in the market.

Cooperation in the energy sector between the two states has become more effective. The leaders of the countries agreed to implement larger-scale projects, including joint development of promising mineral deposits.

Transport issues were also at the center of discussion. The increase in cargo transportation volumes and simplification of customs and logistics procedures were discussed. An agreement was reached on the development of the Turkmenbashi port and the restoration of direct flights between Tashkent and Ashgabat.

In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, successful examples include the Days of Turkmenistan Culture held in Urgench and Tashkent, as well as the screening of Turkmen films. For further exchange, joint concerts, theater tours, a youth forum in Khiva, and joint film projects are planned. Contacts in the field of healthcare and medical technologies will also be intensified.

The presidents managed to agree on holding new meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council by the end of the year. A "roadmap" will be created to implement the agreements reached, which will serve as the basis for joint actions to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

As a result of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdymukhamedov signed a joint statement.

During the meeting, there was also an exchange of documents, including:
