
According to sources from CNN, Beijing is not only updating its nuclear arsenal but may have also violated the international moratorium on nuclear testing, established in 1996, by conducting a covert test in June 2020.
The channel emphasizes that China's significant investments in nuclear technologies are aimed at achieving strategic parity with powers such as Russia and the US. Experts suggest that this will provide China with technical capabilities currently lacking in other leading nuclear countries.
According to the report, key research areas include the development of missiles with miniature warheads, expanding the range of armaments, and creating low-yield tactical nuclear weapons that have not previously been produced in the country.
Channel sources also noted that this weaponry may be intended for use against targets located closer to Chinese territory, which could be relevant in the context of potential actions by Beijing in response to US support for Taiwan.
