On February 21, in his social network Truth Social, U.S. President Donald Trump announced an increase in import tariffs to 15%. This decision was made with the aim of protecting the country's economy.

The head of state noted that this decision was the result of an analysis of a ruling by the Supreme Court, which had previously deemed the tariffs imposed earlier as illegal.

Trump emphasized: "Based on a thorough, detailed, and complete review… I, as President of the United States, am raising the 10 percent global tariff… to 15 percent."

He also added that the new tariffs take effect immediately, and in the future, the administration plans to develop and implement additional measures.

Previously, the president signed an order imposing a 10% duty on imports "for all countries," which was set to take effect on February 24 and last for 150 days, as clarified by the White House.

It is worth noting that on February 20, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the global tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in April 2025 were illegal, pointing out that the president had exceeded his authority by using the emergency law to impose so-called reciprocal tariffs worldwide.
