A bill has been introduced in the Russian parliament aimed at tightening the conditions for the stay of labor migrants. According to information published by the publication "Meduza," the document proposes new grounds for the cancellation of work permits.

Thus, foreign citizens may lose their permits if their income falls below the subsistence minimum, taking into account dependents. Tax authorities will be required to provide the Ministry of Internal Affairs with information about migrants' incomes over different periods: three, six, nine, and twelve months.

In addition, the cancellation of the permit is also possible if its holder has worked for less than ten months in a year, while earning below the established minimum.

The bill pays special attention to the children of migrants. According to the proposal, upon reaching the age of 18, adult children of foreign citizens will have to leave Russia within 30 days if they do not have legal grounds to stay in the country, such as a work permit.

Currently, a work permit is mandatory for citizens of countries with visa-free entry, except for Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
