According to Grebenkin, starting from 2024, migrants are required to inform the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia about their employment within two months from the date of obtaining the patent. Otherwise, such a patent will be considered invalid, which deprives foreigners of the right to stay in the country.
The main reason for the cancellation of patents was the absence of copies of labor or civil law contracts from foreign citizens, which are required to confirm their employment activities.
Also, on November 24, Alexey Gasak, head of the control and supervisory activities department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia's department for external and labor migration, reported that since the beginning of 2025, the entry of more than 160,000 foreign citizens has been prevented. At the same time, the number of documented violations of entry and stay rules has increased by 30% compared to previous years.
