As a result of the night attacks by the USA and Israel on oil storage facilities in Tehran, fuel leaked into the sewage system, stormwater system, and drainage channels.

The flames quickly spread to nearby streets; however, the fire was soon localized.

After that, acid rains began in the city. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, the explosions at the oil storage facilities led to the release of a significant amount of toxic substances into the atmosphere, including hydrocarbons, as well as sulfur and nitrogen oxides.

When these substances fall as precipitation, they form acid rains, which pose a serious threat to public health, including chemical burns to the skin and respiratory problems.

According to The Times of Israel, as a result of the night strikes on five oil facilities in Tehran and its surroundings, four people were killed, and columns of fire and thick smoke rose over the city.
