Within the framework of the Turkic States Organization (TSO), humanitarian cooperation holds an important place. This is emphasized by the holding of the second meeting of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Network of TSO member states in Baku. The Secretary General of the TSO, Kurbanbek Omuraliev, stressed this point during the meeting, as reported by Trend.
According to Omuraliev, although the TSO covers more than 45 areas, including foreign policy, economy, sports, and technology, humanitarian cooperation occupies one of the leading positions. He also added that efforts in this area are coordinated through the ministries of emergency situations.
The Secretary General reminded that last year a key document on civil protection was signed in Bishkek, which is now awaiting ratification and prompt entry into force. He noted that the establishment of the Red Cross and Red Crescent network is the next step in strengthening this cooperation.
Omuraliev emphasized that assistance is not limited solely to responding to disasters or droughts. Historically, Turkic peoples have supported each other in difficult times, and such cooperation continues the traditions of brotherhood, uniting our peoples.
