Video – Explosions rocked Dubai amid escalating conflict between Iran and Israel

On February 28, explosions and active air defense operations were reported in several major cities of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates, according to reports from the international agency Reuters and UAE state sources.

On-the-spot events

Iran's retaliatory actions included launching missiles towards several Gulf countries, including the UAE, amid joint attacks by the US and Israel on Iran.

Some missiles were intercepted by UAE air defense systems; however, debris fell on the city, causing loud explosions.

In Dubai, in the "Palm Jumeirah" area, an explosion occurred near a hotel, resulting in a fire and injuries to at least four people, according to AFP.

The UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed successful missile interceptions using air defense systems.

State media reported the first casualties, including civilians who died from falling debris in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

Despite the absence of a declared large-scale evacuation, authorities temporarily closed airspace over some regions of the country.

Local residents and tourists in Dubai heard sounds of explosions and saw air defense operations, although the overall situation in some areas remains calm despite isolated loud noises, according to eyewitnesses and media reports.

Explosions were also heard in the Dubai Marina area, but there are no reports of serious damage.

The escalation of the conflict occurred after the start of a military operation by the US and Israel against Iran, which provoked retaliatory strikes by Iran on American military facilities and sabotage actions in the region.
