Since his appointment on March 8, Khamenei has not made any public appearances, which has sparked rumors about his health. According to Reuters, citing Iranian sources, he sustained minor injuries in the same incident that claimed the life of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In his speech, the new leader of Iran declared his intention to avenge the death of the "martyrs" and confirmed that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz would continue. He also urged neighboring countries to close American military bases, which Iran views as targets for attacks.

Interestingly, Khamenei stated that he learned of his election at the same time as other citizens through television news.
