The citizens of Iran have been offered to "swear allegiance" to the new Supreme Leader.
The Supreme Leader of Iran is Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint operation by the US and Israel, according to information from "Radio Free Europe."
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) expressed full support for this choice, emphasizing its readiness to obey and sacrifice itself to fulfill the directives of the new leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
56-year-old Mojtaba is the second of six children of Ali Khamenei. His education began at the Alavi religious school in Tehran. According to Iranian media, in his youth he served in the military during the Iran-Iraq war, and since 1999 he has been studying in Qom, a holy city that is an important center of Shia theology.
It is worth noting that Mojtaba Khamenei has never held official positions, has not appeared in public, and has not given interviews. Nevertheless, he spent two decades in the company of his father, coordinating relations between the clergy and the IRGC.
His wife, Zahra Haddad Adel, also fell victim to the same US and Israeli operation as his father. The couple has three children. There are reports that their eldest son, who is 18 years old, also died in this attack, but this information has not yet been confirmed.
US President Donald Trump previously described the choice of Khamenei's son as "unacceptable," emphasizing that the process of appointing a new Supreme Leader should be reconsidered.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated last week that any leader appointed by the "Iranian terrorist regime" would become "target number one" for elimination. The Israel Defense Forces have been instructed to prepare for this and act as part of Operation "Lion's Roar."
