Former President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro is in intensive care due to pneumonia

Former President has been placed in the intensive care unit of a medical facility in Brasília for pneumonia treatment.

He is experiencing symptoms such as high fever, sweating, chills, and low blood oxygen levels. According to the conducted examination, Bolsonaro has been diagnosed with bronchopneumonia, likely caused by aspiration.

According to doctor Brasil Caído, "pneumonia in elderly patients, especially those over 70 years old, poses a serious risk as it can lead to sepsis when bacteria enter the bloodstream, resulting in an even more severe condition."

Jair Bolsonaro was convicted by the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil in September 2025 and is currently serving a 27-year sentence for attempting a coup. He has also been found guilty of other charges, including leading an armed criminal organization and attempting to violently overthrow the democratic order. Bolsonaro denies all charges.
