A plasma cloud ejected towards Earth is expected to travel at an average speed of about 670 km/s. Its journey from the Sun to our planet will take just over 60 hours. Considering the time required for the flare that occurred yesterday (around 3:00 PM Moscow time) to form, the arrival of the plasma on Earth is forecasted for Thursday, March 19, 2026, between 4 and 6 AM.
According to calculations, the maximum strength of the magnetic storm could range from G2 to G3, which corresponds to a strong level of activity. The probability that the storm will reach a higher value of G4 is only 1-3%; the initial M2.8 flare was not powerful enough for such an effect. The duration of the magnetic storm itself is expected to be around 10 hours, which is also related to the limited power of the initial event.
