The USA has expanded the list of countries with a visa bond requirement. Mongolia has been included.

Starting April 2, Mongolia will become one of the countries whose citizens are required to pay a bond of up to $15,000 when applying for a visa to the USA. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.

The U.S. State Department has added new countries to the list of those whose citizens must pay a bond when applying for visas. As a result, the number of countries subject to this requirement has now increased to 50.

The changes will take effect on April 2, 2026. The list includes 12 new countries, including Mongolia.

Foreigners from the specified countries will need to pay a bond of $15,000 to obtain B1 and B2 visas, which are intended for business trips and tourism in the USA. The bond will be refunded to those who meet the visa conditions and return home or do not go on the trip.

The pilot program for issuing visas with a bond began in August 2025 and applies only to business and tourist visas (categories B-1 and B-2). It is aimed at citizens of countries with a high level of illegal overstays in the USA.
