On this day, in the southern part of Ashgabat, President Serdar Berdymukhamedov joined the event. Among the participants were also the Chairman of the Mejlis, vice-premiers, heads of law enforcement agencies and the military, as well as representatives of international organizations and diplomatic missions.
During the Saturday event, Vice-Premier Tangryguly Atakhalliyev reported on the number of trees planted, while his colleague Baymyrat Annammammedov, responsible for Ashgabat, spoke about the improvement of the capital and the state of construction works.
According to the state information agency TDH, on this day, 611,962 seedlings were planted across the country. In addition, care was provided for more than 2 million trees.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, also participated in the tree planting in Arkadag, where he enjoyed performances by musicians and dancers, and then presented gifts to the participants.
Berdymukhamedov Sr. planted his tree together with a boy who asked him to bless the start of the action and recited a poem.
TDH notes that the participation of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty in the event alongside a young representative symbolizes the continuation of mentoring traditions in the country.
