In order to support the tourism sector, the government is implementing new financial measures, including regional initiatives for infrastructure development and attracting foreign travelers.

According to MiddleAsianNews, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth has announced the launch of a program that provides preferential loans at 6% for a term of up to six years.

These loans will be available through 10 commercial banks and are intended to finance various infrastructure projects, including hotels, tourist complexes, roadside accommodations, service centers, as well as air and ground transportation for tourists. Depending on the purpose of the loan, borrowers will be able to take advantage of a grace period for repaying the principal, which ranges from 12 to 76 months. The amount of loans for sectors not related to air transport can reach ₮7 billion (approximately $2 million).

According to officials, ₮250 billion (about $70.1 million) has been allocated for the implementation of this program this year, and ₮13 billion (approximately $3.64 million) is provided in the state budget for 2026 to subsidize interest rates. These measures are expected to improve service levels and expand the tourism infrastructure in the country.

Tourism plays an increasingly important role in the economic development of Mongolia. In 2025, the country was visited by over 847,000 tourists, accounting for 7.8% of the gross domestic product and an increase of 16% compared to the previous year. The government has set an ambitious goal of attracting one million tourists this year.

As part of its regional development strategy, Mongolia has for the first time identified 17 sites in 12 aimags as national tourist zones, aimed at maintaining balanced growth in the regions and promoting key tourist destinations.

The country is actively working to strengthen tourism as a vital sector of the economy. Support measures for tourism entrepreneurs are being implemented, infrastructure and service standards are being developed, and the natural and cultural heritage of Mongolia is being promoted on the international stage. This year, 14 sports events, 99 cultural tourism events, and about 140 other events, including international conferences, seminars, and exhibitions, are planned, which, according to official sources, will further increase the country's attractiveness for foreign tourists.
