The Government of Mongolia has announced the extension of visa-free entry for citizens of South Korea, allowing them to make short-term trips to the country until the end of 2026.

This initiative aims to support year-round tourism in Mongolia and is part of the "Visit Mongolia Years" program, which seeks to attract more foreign tourists and activate the tourism sector, as reported by the government press service.

The economy of Mongolia largely depends on the extractive sector and resource exports, so the development of tourism has become a key priority for diversifying the economy and enhancing competitiveness in the face of global competition.

According to the Mongolian Tourism Organization, 851,931 foreign tourists visited the country in 2025, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

According to the strategy supporting the tourism sector under the slogan "Go Mongolia!", Mongolia plans to attract 2 million foreign tourists by 2028.

The increase in the number of Korean tourists indicates a growing interest in Mongolia as a tourist destination.

“I was attracted to Mongolia by its vast natural beauty and exoticism, such as the opportunity to stargaze in the night sky,” shared her impressions Kim Eun-bi, a 27-year-old office worker who recently visited the country in the summer. “The sight of herds of cows, horses, sheep, and camels moving along dirt roads was both inspiring and calming.”
