Mongolia's external debt amounts to $40.4 billion

According to official data, the increase in external debt occurred due to a 9.9% rise in foreign direct investments and intra-company loans, as well as an increase in government borrowings, which grew by 7.3%.

Of the total external debt of Mongolia, nearly 45.3% consists of direct investments and intra-company loans, 21.7% is government debt, 8.5% is obligations to other savings institutions, 3.5% is to the Central Bank, and 21% is debts of other sectors.

The rating agency Moody's, in its assessment, suggests that Mongolia's real GDP will grow by 5.5% this year and remain at a similar level in 2026.
