In Germany, drunken men tried to steal a Christmas tree from a Christmas market

This morning in Aurich, located in Lower Saxony, police noticed two men aged 29 and 48 stealing a Christmas tree from the Market Square. This was reported by DW.
Law enforcement quickly intervened and stopped the crime. The younger of the thieves was detained and taken to the station due to his inappropriate behavior and refusal to leave the scene. Both men were found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, in other cities in Germany, thieves were more successful. In Eberswalde, 15 fir and spruce trees have been stolen from the Christmas market in recent days, while in Oranienburg, about 40 trees were taken (both cities are located in Brandenburg). In Magdeburg, in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, more than 10 Christmas trees also went missing from the market. Additionally, in Frankfurt (Oder), according to police, the damage from theft amounted to over 3,000 euros.
