According to data provided by the Aviation Safety Network, in 2025, a total of 418 people died worldwide as a result of aviation accidents. This resource collects information on incidents in civil aviation around the globe.

When analyzing, aircraft with a capacity of 14 passengers or more are taken into account. Within this statistics, 352 victims were passengers, while 33 people were crew members. Additionally, another 33 fatalities did not fall into these categories.
Although this figure exceeds the number of victims in 2024 (334 people), it is significantly lower than in the 1970s. At that time, the likelihood of becoming a victim of an aviation accident was one in 264,000, whereas now this risk has decreased to one in 11,459,330. Meanwhile, the number of air passengers has increased nearly tenfold over the past fifty years, reaching 4.7 billion per year.

The most tragic event in 2025 was the crash of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India in Ahmedabad.
