The State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic reports the detention of a citizen suspected of having links to the international terrorist organization "Islamic State".
The detainee, known by the initials "T.M.Sh.", previously lived in the Aravan district of the Osh region. His activities included the spread of terrorist ideology among local residents. He also called for the overthrow of the current state system and the establishment of a theocratic state in the form of a "caliphate".
Additionally, according to intelligence services, he was involved in recruiting citizens to send to the Middle East, where they could participate in battles on the side of illegal armed groups, and also planned to carry out terrorist acts on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
As a result of conducted counter-terrorism operations, T.M.Sh. was arrested in Istanbul. On March 16, 2026, the staff of the State National Security Committee returned him to Kyrgyzstan.
Currently, the investigation into the case is ongoing.
